WMU Corner

We appreciate Joe Lewis and Robbie Jackson for organizing the Manor House Birthday Party in July, and for all who assisted. There were four residents with birthdays in July and gifts were presented to them. Cake, ice cream and punch was served to everyone. The ladies who helped with the party were Levea Barrett, Sharon Camp-bell, Jane Threatt, Peggy Makarski, Robbie Jackson, Carla Wallace, Judy Cherry, Jo Lewis and Lynda Hicklen. Levea, Peggy, and Robbie are pictured above with two of the Manor House residents enjoying their refreshments.

A big thank you to our church family for helping our students in Stewart Co. Schools by providing school sup-plies through "Christmas in August." These supplies are being delivered each week to the schools, so contributions are still welcomed and needed. Our compliments to the G.A.s, and leader Pamela Vance, for preparing posters, lists of supplies, and boxes for this ministry.

Your generosity in providing coats for our "Give-A-Coat" ministry has been overwhelming! At this time we have received approximately 400 coats for this event which means no further donations are necessary. The final coats will be cleaned and mended this week, thanks to volunteer Jo Lewis. Our next task will be to organize by sizes and attach to each coat a card bearing FBC information. A gospel tract explaining God’s plan of salvation will also be placed into a pocket on each coat. Thanks to Bro. George for giving us that wonderful suggestion for sharing God’s love. Also, Darrell Cook has been terrific to provide the racks for hanging the coats. Pictured below: coats, coats, coats!

Please mark your calendars for Saturday, October 23th (rain date: Oct. 30th) for our "Give-A-Coat" Ministry.

Rhonda is preparing flyers to let our community know about this ministry. Sign up sheets will be distributed through Sun-day School in October to ask for your assistance with this outreach project. We so look forward to helping our community prepare for the cold weather during the coming winter months.

The "Week of Prayer for Golden State Missions" will be ob-served September 12-19. Our church goal is $1,000.00. Please remember to give to this offering which is used throughout our state of Tennessee.

Coming Up: We will once again prepare to fill and send shoeboxes to children throughout the world. The shoeboxes will be collected by the first of November. You will be receiving more information about this ministry in the near future.

It is with deepest appreciation that we express our thanks to you for continuing to support each endeavor through prayer and giving. May God bless you as you have blessed others through WMU sponsored events and activities. Together we are making a difference in our community, our state, and around the world.

WMU Watchword for 2010

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart,
soul, and mind.  This is the first and greatest
commandment.  And the second is like it:
love your neighbor as yourself.”

Matthew 22:37-39

"Lord, make me a reflection of You."
