WMU Corner
As of the
4th of July holiday approaches, we are mindful of all the freedoms with
which we are blessed. The main freedom, being able to worship and
serve our Lord Jesus Christ. One way of doing this in our community is
through our snack ministry at Anglin Funeral Home. We always need
individually wrapped snacks. There is a basket for donations in the
foyer and in the Rush S.S. classroom
Tammy
Hughes came from the Health Department and explained to our mission groups
about the work she does with first time moms. Many are unwed mothers
who come from broken homes with no one to provide the love and care they
need at this trying time in their lives. Tammy is a very compassionate
person who reaches out to them in Christian love. She expressed her
appreciation to us for the bags of baby supplies we proved for her to pass
on to these mothers. These supplies are purchased with money collected
in the baby bottles. Since these bags of supplies are donated through
the church, we can include a Christian tract in each bag.
"Lord, make me a
reflection of You."
Children's
Back-Pack Project - The Stewart Co. school system implements a
backpack food program which is currently serving 21 children. The
approximate cost of one backpack per child per weekend is $7-$8.
This program is available only during the school year. First Baptist
Church would like to continue the backpack program by providing food for
these children, twice in June and twice in July. If you would like
to participate by helping to purchase the food for these summer months,
please give donations to Judy Cherry or Dixie Jobe. Dixie is the
treasurer of the Ruth S.S. class, and you may leave your donations at the
F&M drive-through window if that would be more convenient. If
you have questions, please see Judy Cherry.
